Why Every Office Should Consider Epoxy Floor Coatings

Posted by Floorguard Products, Inc on Feb 9th 2018

At Floorguard Products, we realize that most of our blogs are speaking to installers. While there will sometimes be those DIY’ers who stop by looking for standard epoxy concrete, we know that most of the people we’re selling to are contractors who are looking for the best epoxies, polyaspartics, and polyurethane concrete floor sealers on the market.

As your partner in providing you with concrete floor epoxy and other projects, we want to help you help your customers. After all, many times a customer will call up looking for a quote on how much application of an epoxy resin is going to cost. They might not even be sold on the idea that they need it at all, and at that point it’s your duty to convince them. Today we’re going to take a look at a few talking points with someone who’s building an office to go with decorative epoxy flooring instead of the traditional options.

It’s So Easy To Clean Up

Most new offices have intentions of keeping everything absolutely pristine. “No thumb tacks in the walls,” “nothing hanging from the ceiling,” and, most often, “no food or drink at your desk.” While that rule might last a couple of months, employees start to conveniently forget that they’re not supposed to have that sloppy burger or that Red Bull at their desk.

The first time something gets spilled on a carpet, it’s likely to get cleaned up pretty well. The company might even have it professionally cleaned. But when cleaning it every time gets cost prohibitive, they’re going to start ignoring the spills beyond cleaning them up with a paper towel. Not only can this lead to an office that looks bad, but also to one that starts to smell bad!

Now let’s take a look at an epoxy floor coating. They’re incredibly easy to clean up, so that both the stain and the smell of food items disappears with a wet cloth. Employers don’t have to be worried about spills, and employees won’t be put out by being told what they can and can’t have at their desks.

They’re Not Going To Wear Like Carpet

One of the worst parts about carpet is the way it wears. While carpet that’s under furniture might look as good as the day it was installed, carpet in high-traffic areas is going to look worn and thin.

That’s where epoxy can shine (literally). It’s not going to show the wear like most floor coverings are, and if wear or damage does occur they can be buffed to their previous glory. And while carpet is hard to repair and can bunch up at the edges, that’s just not an issue with concrete floor sealants.

They Look Great

Carpet is...well, in the office world, carpet is everywhere. It’s the standard, and not for a good reason. It’s just that carpet is what there was to use in the early days of the traditional office, and it just sort of stayed even when better — and more beautiful — options came along.

Floorguard Products, and the many types of epoxy, polyurethane, and polyaspartic floor coatings we offer, simply look great. Whether it’s a single color across the entire floor, a beautiful flake blend, or swirls of breathtaking metallic flow, concrete floor sealants simply look better than anything carpet can ever deliver.

Those who are remodeling an office space should keep in mind that looking great isn’t just about giving employees a nice place to work.Yes, you want to give you employees a great work environment, but it’s also important to draw in the best potential employees when hiring; giving them a tour should make them feel like they want to work there! Of course, it’s also vitally important that any clients or partners who stop by be impressed with the space, because you want to leave a good impression on them. Instead of greeting them with regular old carpet, why not get the company logo encased under epoxy at the front desk? It’s the perfect way to really impress anyone who walks into the office.

Colors Can Be Added

Most companies tend to have company colors. In most cases a business will pay a marketing firm to establish their colors, usually when they’re coming up with a logo. A company might decide to incorporate that color into their epoxy floor coatings, whether as the color additive or in the flake. Desiring to use this color in carpeting is usually impossible, as almost every color out there will show stains. (There’s a good reason why so little carpeting is white.) But when it comes to concrete floor coatings, they can choose their color and never have to worry about it fading or staining.

Logos Can Be Incorporated

One of the most exciting things a company can do is to lay down their logo at the entrance and then cover with an epoxy concrete coating. In this way their logo is there for everyone who comes through the doors, yet is always protected.

It’s Cost-Effective

No doubt about it, epoxy flooring can be a very cost effective method. When you combine the ease of installation with the length of time most concrete floor coatings last, it’s hard to beat as a flooring options for an office.

Don’t let that customer who’s “only kind of interested” in epoxy flooring get away. Give them those reasons above and you’re sure to convince some of them that your floor coatings are the way to go!
