Floorguard + Onfloor: Faster Concrete Surface Prep

Floorguard + Onfloor: Faster Concrete Surface Prep

Floorguard Products Partners with Onfloor Technologies to Bring High-Production Surface Preparation to Flooring Contractors

Floorguard Products is partnering with Onfloor Technologies to provide professional flooring contractors with a more complete installation platform—combining Floorguard's Made-in-the-USA resinous flooring systems with high-production concrete surface preparation equipment engineered specifically for the coatings professional.

At the center of the offering is the Onfloor OF20Pro, a 20-inch variable-speed planetary grinder designed to increase surface preparation production without requiring the size, power requirements, or logistical demands of many larger grinding platforms.

For a resinous flooring contractor, that matters because profitability doesn't begin when the first coating is applied. It begins with how efficiently the floor can be prepared.

More Than a 20-Inch Grinder

The OF20Pro incorporates several patented technologies that distinguish the machine from conventional planetary grinders.

Its patented triple-belt planetary drive system is engineered to generate increased grinding torque while requiring less electrical power. The OF20Pro operates on single-phase 208–240V power while providing variable tool speeds from 0–1,750 RPM. This allows the operator to match rotational speed to the tooling, substrate condition, coating removal requirement, and desired preparation profile rather than operating at one fixed grinding speed.

Onfloor rates the OF20Pro at more than 600 square feet per hour of concrete preparation per grit, giving contractors the ability to substantially increase the amount of floor that can be prepared during a working day.

Equally important is Onfloor's patented flexible tool-plate system. Instead of maintaining a completely rigid grinding plane, the tooling is allowed to follow variations in the concrete substrate. This helps the diamonds maintain more consistent contact across the floor, reducing unnecessary over-grinding of high areas while allowing the tooling to continue scratching lower areas.

The result is not simply faster grinding—it is a more efficient transfer of the machine's grinding pressure into usable surface preparation.

Tooling Engineered as Part of the Machine

One of the most important advantages of the Onfloor platform is that the diamond tooling are not treated as an unrelated consumable.

Onfloor's diamond tooling is selected and configured around the operating characteristics and down-pressure of the machine. Tooling is available in different grits, bonds, and segment configurations specifically matched to machine grinding pressure. That relationship between machine weight, segment configuration, tooling contact area, and application allows the grinder and diamonds to function as an integrated preparation system rather than two independent components.

The OF20Pro also utilizes Onfloor's patented Quick Change tooling system, allowing operators to rapidly change diamond tooling without the conventional process of repeatedly bolting and unbolting individual segments.

For an installation company, reducing tooling-change time may appear minor on a single project. Multiplied across hundreds of tooling changes, coating-removal operations, preparation steps, and projects each year, those minutes become productive labor hours.

Taking the Grinder to the Edge

Floorguard will also be able to pair the OF20Pro with Onfloor's OF18 Edge, an 18-inch dedicated edging platform designed to address one of the most labor-intensive portions of mechanical surface preparation.

Traditional edge preparation frequently requires technicians to work from their knees with smaller handheld grinders. Beyond the physical demands on the operator, hand edging can create a significant production bottleneck: the main grinder may complete the open field while the crew remains behind finishing walls, corners, and perimeter areas.

The OF18 Edge allows much of that perimeter preparation to be performed from a standing position with a substantially larger working path. For contractors, the objective is straightforward—bring edge-production rates closer to the production capability of the primary grinder and reduce the labor imbalance between field grinding and perimeter preparation.

Turning Surface Preparation Into Production

The economic impact becomes significant when these technologies are viewed together.

A grinder capable of higher production, flexible tooling that maintains more consistent substrate contact, diamonds matched to the machine, rapid tooling changes, variable operating speed, and a dedicated high-production edging solution all attack the same expense:

non-productive labor time.

If a contractor can reduce the hours required to prepare each project, those savings extend throughout the business. Crews can begin crack repair and detailing sooner. Coating installation can start earlier. Projects can be completed faster. Equipment can move to the next project sooner. And over time, the same installation company can potentially complete more square footage without proportionally increasing its labor force.

That directly affects labor cost per square foot, project throughput, crew utilization, scheduling capacity, and gross profit per installation day.

From Concrete Preparation to Finished Flooring

The partnership between Floorguard Products and Onfloor Technologies represents more than adding another piece of equipment to a product catalog.

It creates a more integrated approach to professional resinous flooring installation.

Onfloor provides the equipment and tooling to efficiently create the surface. Floorguard provides the American-made resinous flooring technology engineered to protect it.

For local flooring businesses competing in an increasingly production-driven market, the combination provides something contractors can put to work every day: a system designed to help them prepare more floor, reduce labor, install more efficiently, and increase the productive capacity—and profitability—of every crew.
